Hi Kitt, don’t think it’s closing as much as the same people are getting tired of posting and/or life outside of chat is getting into the realm of being neglected and “Must Do”.

Flute, you don’t need to be prompted to recover tabs in IE.
When you first open IE, click on “Tools” and there should be an option “Reopen Last Browsing Session”.

Tuesday is Senior’s Day at the Casino near my Mother’s place.

Swipe your Players Card in the Promotion machine when you walk in, play a little game to win $5-30 Free Play and when you put your Players Card in a Slot to play you get $3 off of the Buffet.

$6 for all that you can eat, not bad in my book.
I have to keep reminding my Mother that it’s All That You Can Eat, NOT All You Can Take Home, yet she always ends up with a large piece of chicken and/or a slab of ham in her purse.

Real Money coming out of a slot is a thing of the past. You now get tickets that need to be redeemed.
Can’t even put coins in them anymore :-(

Posted and poof into cyberspace, needed to log in. It worked, I hit the back button and did a copy before logging in.

Flute, Not all farm equipment is Diesel but generally speaking where there’s a work load, a Diesel engine will do the same work as a Gas engine using about half the gal/hour.

I think Farm Gas isn’t dyed and still needs to have a form filed for a Road Tax Refund.
Around here Farm gas usually has Lead Substitute added because of all the old tractors pre ’75.
Put that in a car made after ’75 or a pickup made after ’78 and you risk replacing the catalytic converter. NOT CHEAP.

Tanks come in almost any shape conceivable. The gravity feeds are usually about 10 foot off the ground so that they are above the fuel tanks on the equipment. 100 – 500 gallon cylinders.

Underground and on the ground tanks that use electric pumping stations much like a Gas Station uses or electric pumps attached to the tank.
You won’t see much more than the top half of the above ground tanks because they are supposed to have retention walls that can hold the full volume of the tanks in case of leaks. It’s called pollution control laws. Yes, Owners of Farms have to comply too. :-(

  • 07:44:00 pm on December 1, 2016 | 0 | # |

    Flute,
Some farmers keep gasoline on their farms for easier refueling of all their farm vehicles.

Not quite right. You need separate tanks for farm equipment and road vehicles.
Some of the Farmers around here don’t have fuel storage tanks. Too much red tape. They go and buy retired bulk delivery fuel trucks and use them for fueling everything.

The reason you never see farm equipment filling up at a Gas Station or Truck Stop is that farm equipment doesn’t need to pay Road Tax.

Diesel is Diesel but Farm Usage Diesel is dyed red and if red Diesel is found in a road vehicle there are fines based on the yearly usage of the vehicle in addition to a fine for doing it in the first place.

The red dye used in Farm Fuel is red enough that if you take a cup of it and mix with 2000 gallons, possibly more, of Road Fuel it will show red enough to get you the fines.

That same red dye is used in Home Heating Oil aka unblended Diesel.

I use a 12 volt transfer pump to fuel my tractors. It’ll empty a 50 gallon drum in about 15 minutes.

As for political views, I guess I will never understand when a law that is written and passed that says “everyone must” and yet everyone isn’t required to. My view is ether it applies to all or none.

Believe me if I was to write insurance laws, very few Insurance Companies and their share holders would like me any more. Not to mention those on preferred rates.

    Ohhhh I’m still around
Snow 90% gone from warmy upper for a couple days and then rain last night.

I however am chuckling at Candancie’s dilemma. I’m not going to tell you I told you so because I didn’t. I didn’t want to scare you too much.
Chances are you will never be 100% of what it used to be when it was good, but it’s still 10,000% better than what you endured before having the TKR.

It took me 3 months to graduate to a 15 pound restriction and go back to work, around 6 months for a 30 pound and 7 years to get it lifted to a 50 pound restriction where I was before having the TKR.

Now 12 years later my other knee is giving me problems whenever I’m on concrete for extended periods of time and my shoulders decided they don’t want my hands to lift to my head anymore.

    Oh Well, life goes on.

Wood pile is buried under a snow bank.
My car almost as bad. A drift is even with the door handles with 2 ft. of snow on it.

Good thing I put my blade on the tractor yesterday, now all I have to do is find it. It’s sitting somewhere in front of the barn in the middle of a snow drift that’s as high as the tractor.

Got more snow today than the last three years combined.

Be on the lookout, it’s heading East.

Yup, tis gonna be a fun day tunneling.

Candancie, I was driving it up from the meadow about 100 yds left of the visible tree you see in the bottom picture.
My Dad was in front of me with the dump truck. When he got in the yard is when my Mother found out and went part way down that lane I was driving up and took the pictures.

The actual pictures were lost when the basement flooded back in the 70′s. After my Dad died in March I was going through the pile of negatives they had and found them.

They had gotten wet too and if you look at the bottom of the top picture you will see finger prints from when they were wet.

My Niece works in a Dental lab and scanned them for me on the x-ray scanner. She didn’t know at the time that a Negative could be reversed into a B&W picture.

Got some sad news yesterday. I will not be deer hunting on Friday because I will be attending a funeral of a GREAT friend of the family whom had been in rather bad health for a while. 86 years old.

What makes him special to me is that he was the owner of the D2 Cat that I’m driving in my avatar. Taken in 1959.

I think you forgot Duluth being in St. Louis County and Carlton in Carlton County.
Duluth is shipping and Carlton has a big paper mill. Neither slowed much in 2008. The ore may have slowed but the grain took it’s place.

What surprised me more than anything is the Central and Southern 2/3 of the State normally vote 75% Blue.

From what I see on most of the maps
    Blue – Populated districts
Red – Agriculture (prices are down) and hunting (firearms)

Saltd, I thought that you would enjoy that link since we are both in Blue States that show area about 90% Red. The big cities ruled the electoral vote.

If you hover over the Counties it also gives the votes.

    Interesting,
Click on your favorite State to see how much of the State voted Red or Blue by Counties.

Minnesota, Illinois and Virginia for example are Blue States but covered mostly in Red.

I just got to thinking about that. If it would have been 10 years ago you might have been lucky to get a DVD and 20 years ago it would have been a VCR tape, neither would have been live.

There even was one New Seller that as a joke listed an empty Pepsi 500ml plastic bottle. Listed as containing nothing but air.
2 Bidders with 0 feedback run the price up to $500,000 and the winner didn’t pay.
The Seller didn’t file a UPI thinking it was a joke and over a month later couldn’t figure out why he was getting billed the FVF’s for an unpaid item. He must not have paid as he was NARU’d about a month after that.

Candancie, No I don’t sell on GiveItAwayBay.
I have lots to unload but with the present SNAD rules with no proof of problem needed, I don’t feel I should have to give anything away and pay shipping to do it.

On what used to be the Answer Center there were at least 2 Sellers a day coming in reporting that they were scammed by Buyers with little feedback using stolen credit cards to fund purchases and often times not finding out until after the items were already shipped to a factitious or redirected address.

Too bad Open Enrollment doesn’t open and close before election day.

An over 50% increase in Insurance Premiums projected for those that need to purchase their own coverage

With so many too busy trying to get reelected that they can’t concern themselves with what they were elected to do, I guess it leaves no choice.

    Oust the Bums.

Candancie, I realize that you don’t get the snow and ice like I get up here but just the same I will need to give you the warning about it.

Be very very careful when on snow or ice or you will be doing the splits and landing on repaired knees – Not Good.
You might do OK with the one that you already have done but be very careful when it comes to the one in January.
Your muscles to keep your legs together will not be there.

After I had an arthroscopic on my left knee on Oct. 5th ’90 I gave up counting how many times that I ended up under my pickup when trying to get in not to mention going through doorways from snow to solid ground. If it slipped I was down.

Flute, all that I know is when a letter mailed at the Post Office’s Local slot 7pm on Tuesday and it doesn’t get to the PO box in the same building until Friday, USPS has messed the delivery system up.

I mailed a mouse (computer) to a Cousin once that in 1960 would have been delivered the next day via train. It was delivered on the 4th day via Priority Mail.

The Minneapolis and St. Paul sorting facilities handle mail for about 75% of Minnesota. The upper NW quarter is serviced by North Dakota.
There is no way you are going to get next day delivery when “all mail” must go through the Sorting Facility and the Sorting Facility is a 6 hour + truck ride from the Post Office. That’s over 12 hours round trip not counting the time spent at the Sorting Facility which is usually a day because the return truck left before the sorting was done.

Flute, around here the Post Offices have only one thing that they can cut, that is hours and they have.
A normal working person cannot get to the Post Office before it closes at 2pm. It used to be open until 5pm during the week.
Saturdays used to be open until 11am and now is only open 8-9am.

Other than the Route Carriers, there has never been more than one person in the Post Office except during the last two weeks before Christmas when a PT Clerk would come in to help sort the mail.
The Postmaster and when they are gone a PT Clerk that takes over.

    Candancie,
Postmasters are quizzed quite regularly on implementation of the rules by the Postal Inspectors.
Postal Inspectors – there is at least 1 for every 3 digit zipcode. ***01

There are even rules for turning around on a road which govern the placement of the Mailbox. A Carrier is not allowed to back across a traffic lane.
As far as that goes, no one should.

Damage to Mailboxes get reported to the Post Office. That is a Federal Offense.

The last time a Mailbox was hit around here was shortly after 9-11-2001. At the time I was told to keep my ears open and my mouth shut.

Never heard if they caught the responsible party but the FBI had ears in every Bar in 2 Counties.

Some Person/s blew up 3 different mailboxes. One of them belonged to a NorthWest Pilot. The FBI was called in because they thought it might be related to the Plane Attacks.

I don’t personally use it and when you say File I keep thinking the File drop down on the top.

If you go into Preferences or possibly Options you should be able to change where it opens to.

Then again you may have the Preview window open if that’s what you are referring to.

Flute, you do realize how long it would take me to get there traveling at 15mph. It would be over 1000 miles because I couldn’t use the toll roads.

You wouldn’t believe what my 14 1/2 hp Craftsman goes through. The problem is that it doesn’t like rocks or stumps. Bearing towers on the mower deck run about $35 each. I always have a spare on hand.

I was one of those raised on whole raw milk. Nothing like having 6% bf milk, it makes store bought whole milk seem watered down.
I still have the habit of shaking milk before pouring it.

When I went to school it was mandatory to drink your 1/2 pint glass bottle of milk for lunch. I had to have chocolate because the smell and taste of the white milk was horrendous. Must have been the high temps they used for Pasteurization back then.

My Parents had a heck of a time with my Brother changing from formula to milk. He’d upchuck every time when given cows milk.
We had a mixture of breeds back then and my Parent’s tried each cow, even some of the Ayrshire my Uncle had and store milk with no luck until a Shorthorn calved.
He outgrew the sensitivity but for the longest time we had a Shorthorn just in case.

Flute, at Two 1 gallon feeders a day, why lift the bags. I keep them in my porch, or as some would say, mud room.

The piglet feeder holds two 5 gallon pails of food.

Flute, I kathink I know what your problem is. You have an internet link on your Desktop. Edge is set as your Default Browser so when you click on the link it opens in Edge.

    Click on your Start button,
    Click on Settings
    Click on System
    Click on Default Apps

    Scroll down to Web Browser

In all likelihood it say Edge
If you click on it, it should give you Internet Explorer as one of the choices

Sounds like a phone didn’t hang up.

I was 48 at the time. Work Comp was declined because the Dr. said the cause was arthritis. Yea right, because of the two arthroscopic surgeries done in ’90 & ’93, which were Work related.

That really was a wimpy job compared to others that I had over the years there, never had to lift more than one end, which was half the weight. 12 ft rolls of carpet on the other hand, where a bear.

Candancie, you mentioned sewing and dexterity, For about 2 years I was one of the two mechanics on duty for 25 sewing machines that were there and also run three embroidery machines. Never seen so many small screws.

I was laying out vinyl/cloth for a computerized cutter.
Back then some of the lays were 300 inches log pulled from a rack which had 10 rolls on them. You pulled one at a time, 6-8 deep.

The vinyl was 54 inches wide, each roll was 50 yds long and weighed about 100 pounds. The cloth was 8ft wide and about as heavy but had rubberized backing so it didn’t slide very well. We used a track mounted cart on the table for that, but it still was a lot of walking backwards.

And in case you are wondering where lol, Larson / Glastron Boats, Divison of Genmar.
Over the years, some of my work had also went into Lund, Wellcraft, Carlson, Sea Swirl, Excel, Hatteras Yachts.
Almost anything Genmar had at one time or another.

    Now I’m feeling underprivileged,
I didn’t qualify for a handicapped placard. After graduating from the walker to a cane, I was told to walk a mile a day for PT.

Because of my work at the time, the rehab clinic would put me backwards, never forwards, on a treadmill for a half mile each visit.

  • 01:25:11 pm on August 9, 2016 | 0 | # |

Flute, I guess that would depend on a couple things.
In the old days, I seen a tractor freeze up in about 20 minutes.

    But Times have changed,
instead of screens we now have filters. The filters catch smaller solids that screens didn’t.

Sugar doesn’t dissolve in gas but it sure does plug the filters.

    It’s what I don’t know that scares me, :-(
Does alcohol dissolve sugar? How much alcohol is mandated by your State to be put in Gasoline? Here in Minnesota, the blend is 10%.

    Sugar does dissolve in water
    Water mixes with alcohol
    Alcohol mixes with gasoline.

I don’t know what happens when all three are mixed and in what proportions.

  • 11:24:45 pm on August 8, 2016 | 0 | # |

After all of that I’d also suspect sugar in the gas tank and some cut hoses.

If all a person does with their computer is surf the web you probably won’t see much difference because the Browsers are located and Pinned to the bottom Task Bar.

If you load all of the programs that I have on my XP Start Menu onto Windows 10 the icons would be at least 5 pages deep or if you clicked on All Apps would be a tiring scroll.
